Henline Falls and Three Pools

Three Pools at Opal Creek Wilderness.

Three Pools at Opal Creek Wilderness.

Many times you drive on a road that you think you know and then you find something new. And that what happen to us when we were last time at Opal Creek wilderness. We were heading towards Henline Falls that we were going to explore it when I noticed this "Three Pools" sign. So as we were exploring the Henline Falls I already thought about checking out the Three Pools as well. But let's start first with the Henline Falls. Simply said it is just gorgeous place. It's located at Opal Creek Wilderness, approximately 42 mile east from Salem, Oregon. The hike is easy and 1.8 mile long.  The falls itself is 126 ft, tall. It has a lot of water flow during wet season and quiet bit of moisture in the air. It is one of these that you keep starring and you can't get enough of it...

Three pools are located not far from there. It is a Day use area and I think it is very popular judging by the size of parking lot. But during off season you can have this place pretty much just for yourself. The water at these pools is nicely green and the rock formations along the creek makes the scene really pretty. Definitely worth to check it out. I'd say go visit it early morning or during the off season... And last but not least, be careful and leave no trace!
